Paranormal Technology:
Why do you use that?!
Written by: Mike Pierce
Here at NPI, we are constantly thriving to help with the growth of the paranormal world. This means testing common paranormal beliefs as well as coming up with new theories.
Below, you will find both the theories and explanations behind each piece of equipments usage within our investigatons.

Barometer (Digital) Theory: It is believed that when a spirit/ghost attempts to manifest or interact, it may cause an increase/decrease in the surrounding atmospheric pressure. Usage: Base readings of atmospheric pressure will be done prior to an investigation. Icreases and decreases in pressure are recorded and documented throughout investigation. |

CCTV IR Camera Theory: Anomolous activity is always happening. These cameras record all happenings within a specific area. Usage: We use both hard line and wireless cameras. Hard line cameras have A/V wires running from the camera to the DVR system. Wireless cameras require no wires between the camera and the receiver. While wireless cameras are easier to setup, sometimes the issues of image clarity and signal strength can create problems. Camera Info:

EMF Meters Theory: When a spirit/entity manifests, it is believed that it provides an electromagnetic field. This energy can be picked up by an EMF meter. Usage: While usage differs upon models, it is important to do measurements prior to any investigation. Base readings should be determined and documented, as well as any sources producing EMF within the area (powerlines, outlets, microwaves, etc.). Keep an eye on EMF readings throughout an investigation and note any unexplained increases or decreases of EMF. |

Infrared StealthCam i540 Theory: Putting together the theories of both infrared motion detection and infrared photography, the StealthCam automatically captures the image of anything that passes through the IR motion sensor. Usage: Simply set up the StealthCam in an area believed to be "active". The camera will automatically take infrared photographs of the area anytime something passes into the motion sensors line of sight. The images get uploaded after the investigation and reviewed alongside any other data collected. |

Infrared Thermometer Theory: When a spirit/entity is manifesting it may give off a cold/hot spot. This is due to the fact that the a spirit/entity is believed to draw in the energy around it causing the temperature change. A cold spot occurs when a spirit/entinty begins to manifest or act out. It requires energy in order to do this. The entity is able to utilize heat energy, which after being used, would cause the surrounding air to get cold. Usage: While usage differs upon models, it is important to do a full sweep of the location in order to get standard measurements prior to any investigation. Base temperatures should be determined and documented, as well as any sources that may cause alterations in temperature (drafty windows, air ducts, etc.). Temperature anomalies are a common paranormal experience and can prove to be priceless data if the anomaly coincides with other data, readings, and experiences |

Motion Sensor Theory: An infrared motion sensor will pick up any kind of movement that passes through the infrared barrier. The unit will sound when anything visable or non-visable passes through the motion sensor. Usage: Simply set up the motion sensor in an area believed to be "active". The receiver will be kept with the team at all times. If the alarm should go off, then you now have reason to go and investigate the area where the sensor was placed with hopes of witnessing activity. |

Vibration Alarm Theory: If an entity is capable of moving itself as well as physically moving and affecting other objects, these Vibration alarms can notify investigators of the slightest movement of static objects. Usage: These vibration alarms can be placed throughout a location. They can be set up on tables, chairs, doors, shelves, etc. Anywhere in which an entity could pass through or move. |
